As the floor plans and elevations for A Wishing
Place evolved, we invited our wish children to share their own reflections
on a place designed for wishing. Many of the children’s visions
have already found their way into our plans for the building, and the
children will remain collaborators until the building is complete. They
presented us with recurring images of water, castles, shooting stars,
and unicorns. These children know only too well that medicine alone is
not enough when chemotherapy begins or remission fails or a transplant
looms. Moments of laughter and magic and courage are needed too.
