They ask me what it's like to have had cancer
So I'm writing this poem to tell you the answer.
I was lying in bed with a tumor in my head
Waiting for my Cat Scan to be read
Then a lady came in and said "You have a tumor."
And I thought of it just as a good sense of humor.
Well my mother sadly started to cry,
Thinking that her son was going to die.
So I simply said "Mommy, I'll be okay.
I won't let this tumor get in my way."
"Don't worry about those emotions of hers.
Now lye back down and I'll get a nurse."
"Now who's our doctor?" my Mom said to her.
"I know! Said the lady.
"How about Doctor Walker?"
"Is Doctor Walker the best one here?"
"Yes, but he's out of town for a week I fear."
A nurse quickly came in with a cool wheely bed
And took me to the ICU so I could rest my head.

Well this is just a taste of hospital stuff.
I can't tell you the rest because the rhyming's too tough.
But brain surgery's over and I'm happy I'm well.
And to every one else
OH the stories to tell.
Surgery twice and all the nice people, IV's stitches, MRI's, and staples.

I'm doing so much now that my schedule's tight.
But I still have some effects from the surgery to fight.
I love to act, play tennis, and ski.
And if you see me you'll say nothing's wrong with me.
In the summer I swim, play golf, and act more.
And from all of this stuff I get really sore.

I give lots of credit to Make-A-Wish Who arranges fun stuff and sends me JAZZ tickets.
So thank you all who helped me through.
And you at Primary children's too.
I will award you for this some how. And I will try very hard to keep this vow.

THANK YOU
Omar, age 11
