The
first annual Walk For Wishes took place October 13th-14th and was a huge success!
Sponsored by ANB Financial this brand new event helped raise $40,000 for Utah
children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Our
walkers walked, and walked, and walked for two days in the beautiful surroundings
in Southern Utah and Zion National Park. Through their steps (and sore feet) they
were able to grant strides of wishes for Utah kids. Not only did they walk but
they worked hard to raise thousands of dollars in the process. The festivities
began on Saturday afternoon where they walked to the ghost town of Grafton. Feeling
tired and a bit hot they all finished their first 8 miles! That evening the walkers
gathered with some of our wishes families for a heart warming candlelight ceremony.
Our wish families, volunteers and walkers shared their touching Make-A-Wish stories
with each other. Sunday morning they laced up their shoes once again and walked
7&1/2 miles through Zion National Park. At the finish of their walk they were
greeted with food, music and a Walk For Wishes medal.
Next
year’s event is sure to be an even greater success.
