Jon Paul's Wish

Jon Paul was first diagnosed with leukemia at age two. Nine years later he relapsed, but this time it was even tougher, according to his parents, who said: “We knew what we would be going through, plus he knew this time.” Asked what got them through, Jon Paul’s mom replied, “We had faith and lots of prayers, we had friends, we had family, and the wonderful doctors at Primary Children’s. We had all we needed.” And Jon Paul had a wish to look forward to, one that required a lot of patience and waiting, for he had wished to meet Pierce Brosnan, but more specifically meet him on location as he shot the next Bond movie. 007 was the obvious choice for Jon Paul since he had been a Bond fan for several years, and is even in the process of creating his own home Bond movie. Although they had to wait many months for shooting on the movie to begin, the wish finally came true, and Jon Paul traveled to London, where he would meet Bond—James Bond!

Bond’s schedule was tight, so lunch was arranged at the  Café Rouge in Highgate. Jon Paul describes his first impression of Pierce Brosnan: “He was very personable and down to earth. He was really kind and nice.” And he signed his young fan’s Bond book, and wrote on a napkin  Jon Paul’s formal introduction to Halle Berry that read, “Halle, this is agent Jon Paul. Take good care of him. Bond.”

Jon Paul’s mom confirmed that Halle did indeed take good care of him. “Jon Paul got a kiss and a hug. It couldn’t have been better.” And Jon Paul summed it all up when he said, “It was the greatest trip I’ve ever had or probably ever will have!”
