I Wish to Drive A Go-kart!
Chris, age 11, grew up in Tooele and was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia. He is close to his siblings and enjoys basketball, Formula One racing, and studying architecture. He also loves to watch his oldest brother race go-karts. Racing captivates Chris, and he wished to have a go-kart of his own.
Once his doctors affirmed that a go-kart would be appropriate for Chris, his wish granters set out to make his dream a reality. Local go-kart builders M Squared, touched by Chriss bravery in fighting leukemia, contacted their suppliers and compiled the perfect racing package. When complete, it included a year-long VIP pass to a local racetrack, his own stall on pit row, driving instruction from the tracks pro, a racing jumpsuit, gloves, and boots, a custom-painted helmet, three sets of tires, and a top-of-the-line CRG Santana race kart from Italyimported especially for Chris, and emblazoned with his new racing number, #1, and sporting the Make-A-Wish logo.
The opening of a racetrack in Tooele provided the perfect setting for the wish presentation. As Chriss surprise gave way to delight at glimpsing his new go-kart, the many people who contributed to the wish looked on contentedly. Chris soon took his go-kart out for its maiden run and, as they watched him zip around the track like a pro, Chriss fans enjoyed a pizza party. Chris found his ride exhilarating and onlookers agreed that he showed an aptitude for driving that, combined with the excellent quality of his go-kart, would soon make him a tough racer to beat.
