Romney's
President Wish
Romney
is a very happy nine-year-old boy who loves life, art and basketball. He has battled
a brain tumor and now battles hydrocephalus as a result of his cancer treatment.
Romney wished to meet the President of the United States because President
Bush is the most important person in the country.
Romney's
wish became a reality on November 14, 2005. Romney and his family met President
George W. Bush in the Diplomatic Room at the White House. They also had the privilege
of meeting the First Lady and the President's dogs, Barney and Miss Beazley. Romney
told the President about a special gift he had made for the Presidenta baseball
bat that Romney had shaped on a lathe and engraved with "Genuine BushWhacker,
handcrafted by Romney."
Prior
to the meeting Romney was given a private, two-hour tour of the White House by
a secret service agent. Romney and his family were allowed to roam freely around
the rooms they toured and sit on the furniture. Romney's younger siblings even
crawled under a dining room table.
Following
the meeting Romney and his family were led out on to the South Lawn of the White
House and watched while President and Mrs. Bush boarded a helicopter and left
to begin a
diplomatic tour of Asia.
Romney's
amazing wish trip also included a private tour of the Capitol, a guided tour of
D.C., a visit to the Smithsonian, the Spy Museum, and the National Archives.
Romneys
mom said, It was an unforgettable trip. Make-A-Wish did a great job to make
it a special, once-in-a-life-time
experience for Romney.
